Pathways’ Early Intervention (EI) Program offers support and services designed to assist families with infants and toddlers (birth through age three), with special needs, to promote the development of their children.

Pathways of Southwestern PA provides EI services to over 600 children residing in Washington County, Greene County, Fayette County, & Westmoreland County. All services are available year round and are provided at no cost to families.

Early Intervention professionals provide services within the child’s natural environment. This typically includes the child’s home, child care center, or other community setting. This approach is intended to help the child’s caregivers learn ways to support their children within their daily routines and activities.Services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, vision support, hearing support, and nutrition services as appropriate. Pathways has over 50 years of experience working with children with a wide variety of special needs including, but not limited to:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
  • Epilepsy
  • Hearing Loss
  • Vision Loss
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Spina Bifida
  • Autism
  • Developmental Delays (including Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Language, Cognitive, & Social skills)
  • Prematurity
  • Nutrition

An Individual Family Service Plan, or IFSP, is developed for each child found eligible through a Multidisciplinary Evaluation, or MDE. Parent participation in all aspects of the program is strongly encouraged.
